Pulling sartorial inspiration from film and TV is nothing new but production companies, costume designers and brands are now taking full advantage of the significant influence that a few minutes on screen can do for sales — and limited-edition collections inspired by, or even in direct partnership, with movies and shows have become the norm.
Last month, there was the “Palm Royale” edit on The RealReal full of vintage Dior, Gucci and Hermés, inspired by the 60’s designer fashion in the show. There’s Ruggable’s “Bridgerton” collection, with homeware that puts a modern twist on the Regency Era. And now, the exact hats from CAT apparel, worn by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in “The Fall Guy,” are now available in a limited-edition collection ahead of the film’s release in May.

The four-piece lineup of hats, which drop on the CAT website on Apr. 15, features two of the hats worn by Blunt in the blockbuster film: The Director Hat and The Stuntman Hat. The brand’s classic Original 1904 Hat that Gosling’s character wears in the film, and also wore while hosting “Saturday Night Live” last week, is also available in the collection.

“My approach when gathering pieces for Ryan’s films is to pull from the authentic lifestyle of that character,” Gosling’s costume designer Mark Avery, tells Variety. “The iconic CAT cap is not only synonymous with working class folks but graphically striking in its design.”
The Universal Pictures action-comedy stars Gosling, Blunt and Hannah Waddingham in a romantic comedy romp that bears no resemblance to the drama series that aired on ABC from 1981 to 1986. Gosling plays a veteran stuntman for a self-obsessed movie star who gets wrapped up in a murder plot and falls in love with a budding director. Supporting them in the film is Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), Winston Duke (“Black Panther”) and Teresa Palmer (“A Discovery of Witches”). Audiences got to catch the first sneak peek of the film back at CinemaCon 2023.
As part of this collection drop, CAT apparel teamed up with Universal and Fandango to give
several dozen fans free tickets to see “The Fall Guy” in theaters. Winners will also receive two hats from the line. The sweepstakes will be running on http://www.catworkwear.com and CAT® apparel social
media (@catapparel) from April 15, 2024, through April 25, 2024. Winners will be announced April 26,
2024.
Universal Pictures’ “The Fall Guy” arrives in theaters May 3, 2024.
