I feel like the cool thing to do is to bash on millennials. And I love bashing things or people who deserve it. It's always easy to target generations of younger kids and blame them for the problems of the world. Heck people were blaming Rock and roll for the problems that faced Baby Boomers. Watch any old movie and you'll find them talking about how disrespectful they were and how it was ruining society. Grease is a perfect example of older generations being out of touch. So sure it's easy to blame Avocado Toast on why millennials can't buy houses, but to act like there's something wrong with an entire generation is ridiculous. Especially seing the previous generation was responsible for its upbringing. A generation that should care about their future instead of just complain.

But when you start hating on an entire generation of "youngsters" because you listened to some rubbish about millennials being lazy, or not wanting to work for a living, or whining about having it too easy, well, then, you're just misinformed. It's never been tougher for young adults and stats back that up. So before you harp on a young adult for something ,consider how much harder it is today.

Which is why writer Tangela Ekhoff's encouraging words to the world's most-maligned generation are so refreshing.

She shared the wholesome message to youngsters encouraging them to embrace their youth.

Dear Millineals,
I'm a Black female Gen X lady. Old enough to be your damn Mama. I have a little advice...

Eat the avacado toast. Travel to new places. Go back to school. Never, ever listen to people who envy your youth and freedom.

It's a big world out there waitong for you to explore it. Home ownership is great, but it ain't all that.

As my years advance, and mortality stares me in the face, I can say that EXPERIENCES, FRIENDSHIP, FAMILY...

Either biologically, or through your own choice is all that matters. Go. Do. Be. Your life should be about the verbs.

— Tangela Ekhoff (@tangelaekhoff) May 17, 2017

Most of the folk who make money writing about you don't understand you. They envy you. The menfolk especially.

— Tangela Ekhoff (@tangelaekhoff) May 17, 2017

Go live your lives. Make choices that work for you...The only thing you will ever regret not owning is your happiness. FIN

@tangelaekhoff I needed this! Getting pressured from some older generation folks for my husband and I to buy a house. We looked but we just not ready! pic.twitter.com/YlBJMuFrRo

Other Gen-Xers chimed in, giving props to Tangela's tweet.

@tangelaekhoff Well said, this entire thread. I love having a home but I went out &lived first. People don't need to jump from one nest to their final one.

Inspiring stuff. We need more people like this to inspire the new generations of people to be their best. Cause after all -- they're living in your future.
