Operatives of Department of State Services on Tuesday arrested a top official of Ikoyi Prisons on the premises of Federal High Court in Lagos State.
Naija News gathered that the arrested was as a result of the tussle for who keeps custody of the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The Ikoyi prison official who was rough-handled and shuffled into the DSS vehicle was later released by the secret service operatives.
Recall that the prison authority and rhe DSS had clashed over custody of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
Emefiele was arraigned today by the DSS on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The court granted him bail for N20 million with one surety. While his lawyers work to meet these bail conditions, a dramatic unfolded within the court premises.
The DSS and NCS locked horns in a dispute over who will retain custody of the defendant.
Vehicles from both agencies were stationed near the court’s entrance, marking their presence.
According to sources that spoke with Vanguard, there are indications that the DSS may attempt to re-arrest Emefiele, despite the court granting him bail.
